Other Students' Film Openings

Previous work made by other students can give us an insight of what out film opening can be like. 'The Rushes' is a film opening produced by other students

Mise on scene:
It is set in an forest at the beginning, at night which already adds a sense of what is happening. Another setting is when the character enters a room which is dark which gives another sense that something weird and mysterious is going on. At the beginning the camera filming on the floor is an essential prop of the film as there is a close-up of it.

Camera:
At the beginning of the scene there is a wide shot of the setting, then there is an low angle shot of the camera on the floor filming some movement. There is a wide shot of trees and the moon giving another  insight of the setting. Their is then an close-up in the moon; this gives an sense of something scary or mysterious. There is then a medium close up of a  character lying on the floor. This makes the audience ask what is happening. Then their is a shot of a car and a match cut of it driving off.  Then their is shots of the characters movement in an shed; he is sitting watching the camera recordings. There are also a few close ups of his actions e,g. when he shuts the doors, the camera is then pointing down tracking the titles on a piece of paper.

Sound:
In the beginning their is an creep up sound when we go into the camera which builds suspense and the their is an big trumpet bang which shows that their is an important part of the sense showing. When the car drives off their is an fast pace tone which gives more impact of the car driving off.

Editing:
At the beginning their is fast motion movement of camera moving into the recording camera. Match cuts of car driving; editing when the character is moving in the garage jumping from one movement to another; to also show the opening credits of the film. At the end the name of the film is shown in capital letter in a black background.
