Intertextuality

This means when a piece of media in a film is used in another film, the audience would reference back to the original piece. They can recognise acpects such as visual scenes, sound, editing and camera angles. It is basically 'borrowing' the piece of media to be re-used. Intersexuality is often used in thriller films. In class we have looked at the way different films have used the famous bathroom scene from 'Psycho' the film.

This is the bathroom scene from 'Psycho' where an aspect of mise en scene is the knife. The knife is also used in a scene of 'Fatal Attraction'.

The is the bathroom scene in 'Fatal Attraction' where the knife is also used. This visual aspect of someone trying to kill someone in a bathroom with a knife is originally taken from 'Psycho', in this film it has been re-used, and the audience may be able to recognise this
