Evaluation- Question 1

In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

Below are some key characteristics about Thriller film openings

Evaluation- Question 2

How does you media product represent particular social groups?

Q3: Evaluation: Media institution and distribution.

This is an interview between a chat show host and a member of the production crew. In it it talks about how we chose the production companies, what companies we used and why.

Above: these are distribution and production companies that regularly create and distribute thriller films.

We researched into these companies and found that twisted pictures was the smallest of private companies that regularly work on thriller films such as saw. we thought that as a film that has similar attributes to the film saw, it would be best suited for our opening sequence.

We also used the candi production ident as the film is a small budjet film with a local release which again is quite small so dosent require a huge budjet for advertising and distribution.

Evaluation- Question 3

What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

Evaluation- Question 4

Who would be the audience for you media product?

Please wait a few seconds for animation to start.. =)

QuestionFour

Here are two videos of 4 people from the audience after they had watched it

Evaluation- Question 5

How did you attract/address you audience?

Evaluation- Question 6

What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing the product?

For the production of 'RESOLVED' we have used different range of technologies, these include:
CAM RECORDER: This device was used to film all the shots of our film opening, then these shots were ready to be edited on FINAL CUT PRO. In this program we were able to add different effects such as slow motion. For us to add sound into our film opening we used SOUND TRACK which allowed us to edit the sound in the way it best suited the situation. In Final Cut Pro we were also able to put in the title sequence by following the conventions, however to make the title of the film we used LIVETYPE which allowed us to add special effects to the title and make it suit the 'thriller' atmosphere.

Apart from these important types of technology we have also used other devices such as MOBILE PHONES and CAMERAS, these were to allow us to take pictures and record the process we had been through when conducting the filming and editing for our final product.

               FLIP CAMERA                                                                 TRIPOD

                            JVC CAM RECORDER

Below I have shown how we have, specially used Final Cut Pro and LiveType, and combined them together by saving the title and importing it into Final Cut Pro and then fit it into the right place in the film opening

Evaluation- Question 7

Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?

When we created our 'Preliminary' task we were  expected to learn skills to allow us to produce our own film opening.
We went through different stages before going out to produce our product.
Pre-production-We made a storyboard, which is shown below

Production of prelim -Below I have shown how we used SoundTrack to edit the sound for our production, and how we have also edited the speed of some shots in Final Cut Pro.

Things I learned which I didn't know:
-I developed my skills on making a title sequence
-Made a title with special effects
-I also developed skills on adding effects such as slow motion
-I have learnt to develop ideas on mise en scene used to link to the genre of the film; to attract audience and make them feel engaged

Overall we have developed our skills, such as editing skills, by producing a prelim production, then we made out final production of 'RESOLVED' which shows the outcome of what we have learnt.

FINAL CUT -RESOLVED

This is the official film opening of 'Resolved'

Editing Process - Final Sound Additions

Shown above is the final sound editing that we put on our final film opening. We had some problems in this area while we were putting the final touches on our film but we were able to solve them and put the sound on our film.

Shown above is a screenshot of the music we downloaded from youtube that we wanted to use. Out of all of the listed soundtracks, we decided which one out of all of them that we liked the most and used it for our film opening.

Evidence of Non-Copyright

Below are screen shots of evidence that we collected off YouTube that the sound we used for our film opening wasn't copyrighted.

The screen shots show conversations that the owner of the sound had with other youtube users, saying that it was alright for them to use his sound.

Risk Assessment

As one part of our scenes was filmed in the storage room of CNI we had to create an risk assessment because there are many risks when filming down there.

Additional Story Board

As shown below, the last two storyboards of our film which we improvised during one of our filming sessions to add into our film opening.
The two story boards, shown below, are of the contract scene where the murderer and the victim (the dad) were signing the contract.

Rough cut of film opening and feedback

As shown above, this is our rough cut of the opening sequence. It has a few titles and we have not included the sound yet.
We were given feedback by our teacher, which we are going to use to improve our final film opening.

Here are some photos we took of the preparation for our opening in one of the two scenes we have chosen to film our opening in. These photos are of the preparation of the filming of our opening.

These photos show us getting the setting ready to allow us to start filming. Also in this above photo we were preparing the camera so we could start our final film clips. The lights for our prelim were being brought out and put together ready for use. We were also setting up the lighting that we were about to use. We had to fix the wiring for the light, and also put the battery in a safe place in order to prevent any accidents.
This photo also shows us doing the final settings of the camera and the lights.
